Jobs at Commonwealth Games, 2010: Three more officers to be inducted with cabinet rank

AS India’s sports minister MS Gill has indicated, a few more high-profile recruitments are on the card for an efficient management of the Organisation Committee of 2010 Commonwealth Games which will be hosted by New Delhi between October3 to 10, 2010. Only a few days after former secretary to government of India and Manipur-Tripura cadre retired IAS Jarnail Singh was appointed as the new CEO for the Organisation Committee (OC), three more senior officers of cabinet rank would be inducted soon, sports minister said. He said one of those officers would be Chief Financial Officer. A number of senior officers are already on board to manage the biggest ever sports event that India is organizing. V K Verma is continuing as the Director-General. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is Vijay Kumar Gautam, a 1987 batch Maharashtra cadre IAS officer who was an observer in the Melbourne’06 and Beijing’08 Games and had intensive involvement in the understanding of the functioning of the Technology Operations Centre in Beijing’08.
