According to a cabinet secretariat statement, the Results Framework Documents, which are to be annual Performance Management tools, would set out the near term objectives of 59 departments and evolve a system for monitoring the department’s progress through success indicators. The Prime Minister has approved the preparation of Results Framework Documents for all departments of the Government of India, as part of the comprehensive Performance Monitoring & Evaluation System(PMES). This move is likely to improve the functioning of government departments substantially. In fact, 59 departments would be preparing Results Framework Documents, in the first phase of roll out of the government of India’s Performance Monitoring & Evaluation System, which would subsequently be extended to cover in phases all the government of India departments.

Action & Appointments
a) Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty, a 1977 batch IFS officer and currently High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Thailand in succession to Ms Vijaya Latha Reddy.
b) Rajeet Mitter, a 1977 batch IFS, currently Ambassador of India to Philippines, will be the next High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh.
No doubt, the workshop will provide an opportunity to streamline the administrative efficiency of various departments.
