Home secretaries Pillai & Sikder to chair India-Bangladesh talks on Monday
HOME secretary G K Pillai and his Bangladeshi counterpart Abdus Sobhan Sikder may thrash out some of the disputes between the two countries in home secretary-level talks between the two countries beginning on Monday. A 5-member Bangladesh delegation, headed by the Bangladesh home secretary Sikder is reaching New Delhi on Sunday for the talks that will take up a range of issues including security, border management and enhanced cooperation between law enforcement agencies. A joint statement is expected to be signed on December 2, 2009.
C P Joshi wants state bureaucrats to take personal interests in Panchayats
Union Minister of Panchayati Raj & Rural Development C P Joshi wants state bureaucrats to take personal interest in promoting the cause of Panchayats so that the system all over the country is comparable or even better than that of the best performing states. While speaking to principal secretaries from various states, the minister said that the immediate areas where Panchayats should focus are those related to Human Development Index and activities covering elementary education, health & sanitation, integrated child development, women development etc.
