HERE is yet another foreign vacancy for officers at the rank of deputy secretary or director working with government of India. The government has invited applications for for filling up the post of Counsellor, Community Affairs (Development) under the ministry of overseas Indian affairs at Abu Dhabi in place of Dr K Ellangovan, a 1992 batch Kerala cadre IAS. The Counsellor will work under the supervision of the Ambassador or Head of Mission and will report functionally to the ministry of overseas Indian affairs. The requisite administrative and accounting support will be provided by the Mission. The officers and staff will be entitled to the same allowances and facilities, as applicable to other officers of similar rank posted in the Missions.
Officers of the the rank of deputy Secretary or director of the Govcmment of lndia or equivalent level are eligible for the post. Officers applying for this post should possess two years cumulative work experiences in the ministry of overseas Indian affairs or labour and financial services. The minimum age of the applicant should not be more than 54 years.

One of the Members of Parliament in Rajya Sabha is asking for the list of corrupt officials in India. His question will be answered on August 12, 2010, according to information available with Rajya Sabha. Just wait to know whether any such list has been prepared, or whether or not the government would actually part away with such information.
Action and Appointments
a) Ms Alka Panda, a 1983 batch Orissa cadre IAS has been appointed as Additional Director General, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) at the joint secretary level.
b) The UPSC has recommended 96 candidates from the reserve list to fill up the remaining posts based on Civil Services Examination, 2007. This includes 65 General, 30 Other Backward Classes and 1 Scheduled Castes. The DoPT would be communicating directly with the recommended candidates.
