Railway officials, spouses enjoyed Hindi cinema’s Black and White era

CALL it an evening of nostalgia. Hundreds of Indian railway officials along with their spouses on Monday night enjoyed “Black and White”, a musical journey of Hindi cinema’s yesteryears. What made the moment special was the presence of a large number of retired rail luminaries including AV Poulouse, belonging to 1949 batch Indian Railway Accounts Service!

The occasion was the celebration of the eighth anniversary of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, a railway SPV which is engaged in constructing new lines, doubling and gauge conversion among others.

And the show, which was a mix of celluloid screen and stage performance, was so captivating that even hardcore railway engineers seemed to have enjoyed that softer moments of life. As the show covered a long journey touching lives and work of Bollywood veterans like Guru Dutt, Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Madhubala, Meena Kumari etc., the officials enjoyed every moment. The function was well-crafted, and was anchored by a senior railway official RN Kalita.

On a lighter note, RVNL managing director Satish Agnihotri said the show was truly captivating with a disclosure that he never watches a motive!
