LTC relaxation to Kashmir extended for 2 years; Srinagar, Gulmarg hot destinations

IN AN attempt to encourage more and more Central government employees visiting picturesque Jammu and Kashmir, the Government has extended the relaxation of LTC by air for another two years beyond June 18, 2012. This means the employees who are otherwise not eligible to travel by air could avail of Leave Travel Concession, or LTC, by air provided...
they travel in economy class irrespective of their entitlements.
Till a few years ago, tourists were abandoning this picturesque land of meadows, streams and hills because of insurgency and continued violence. But the law and order situation has improved in Kashmir valley leading lakhs of domestic and international tourists enjoying visits to destinations such as Srinagar and Gulmarg. According to media reports, houseboats on Dal lake have been booked for weeks in advance. Gulmarg witnessed about 500,000 tourists in the first months of this calendar year.
According to an Office Memorandum, dated June 15, 2012, the extension of LTC relaxation is conditional. The beneficiaries must buy air tickets either directly from the Airlines or through authorized agents which are Balmer Lawrie and Co and Ashok Travels and Tours/IRCTC.
Only last month, the government extended the LTC relaxation to the North-East by another two years helping 3.5 million strong Central government employees to avail of the concession and spend their holidays in mystic land of seven sisters and eighth brother (Sikkm).

  1. Kashmir houseboats are associated closely with the valley's culture and traditions. A brilliant idea that started from constructing small boats was later revolutionized with transforming these boats into spacious modern styled floating hotels. houseboats are all made of the finest cedar wood that follows with intricate walnut wood carvings, paneled walls and tiled baths. Our boats are categorized in the super deluxe category and each boat has an assorted number of three to four bedrooms with a private bath and wash room.
