Director level officer needed as Counsellor, Community Affairs in Indian Embassy, Washington

THE government has circulated the vacancy notice of the post of Counsellor, Community Affairs (Development) in Indian Embassy of Washington among secretaries of the Cadre Controlling ministries and departments of Group 'A' services of Government of India to select the right candidates at the level of deputy secretary or director. Indian-American community, the importance of the post has risen during the recent time.
The posting will be for a period of three years.
The mandatory qualifications include two years of cumulative work experience in any of the fields of labour, Overseas Indian Affairs, investment, financial services or diaspora related matters. The officer should have at least “Very Good” Service record if not “Outstanding” service record with a grading of 9 and above. The officer should not be over 54 years of age.
The desirable qualifications include experience in bilateral or international negotiations, international migration related issues among others. The experience in IT/e-governance projects is an added qualification.
The other two similar posts that exist in Indian missions abroad are in Dubai and Kuala Lumpur.

Action and Appointments
a) The Central government has approved premature repatriation of Khade Nitin Kumar Shivdas, a 2004 batch Assam cadre IAS, presently on inter-cadre deputation to Maharashtra, to his parent cadre of Assam-Meghalaya cadre.
b) The ACC has approved extension in the deputation tenure of Dr V Santosh Kumar, a 1992 batch Indian Revenue Service (C and CE) officer, as private secretary to MoS (Textiles) Smt Panabaaka Lakshmi, for a period up to October 31, 2012 to allow time for the minister to choose another suitable officer as her private secretary.
