Where are action-taken reports on vigilance probes, DoPT asks ministries

the recommendations of the committee of experts on disciplinary and vigilance inquiries, popularly known as Hota committee, forcing the DoPT to issue one more reminder on January 24, 2013. On December 4, 2012, the DoPT issued an office memorandum asking Union ministries and departments to send the action-taken-report on four specific recommendations of the Hota committee giving them a deadline of one month. But a number of ministries failed to submit reports.
It all started when a Committee of Secretaries (CoS) under the chairmanship of cabinet secretary Ajit K Seth had recommended on October 30, 2012 for compilation of actions taken by ministries/departments in compliance with the OMs/Circulars issued in respect of the recommendations regarding the following four issues:
a) Compliance to the standard check list while sending cases to UPSC for advice;
b) Disposal of all pending cases for sanction of prosecution;
c) Deciding all cases where disciplinary inquiry has been under contemplation;
d) Deciding all pending disciplinary inquiries.
“The action taken on above points in your Ministry/Department pursuant to the aforesaid OMs of DoPT may be sent to this Department within one month from the date of issue of this OM,” the DoPT in its fresh office memorandum asks.
