Panel set up to raise retirement age of scientists to 64; what’s about the rest?

62 mainly to woo support of over 5 million staff. Senior DopT officials have however spoken to select media personnel to deny any such move. Those officials have remained anonymous.
Meanwhile, a June 13 office memorandum said that the PM approved the composition of a screening committee for considering proposals for “extension in service of specialists in scientific and medical fields beyond the age of 62 years”. The panel will be chaired by the cabinet secretary, and will have science and technology secretary, bio-technology secretary and DoPT secretary as its members. The tenure of the committee will be two years.
The OM further clarified that in the case of officials belonging to mission oriented agencies like the department of atomic energy or the department of space, the secretary of the department concerned will also be associated with the committee.
 
Officer needed in Indian embassy, Tokyo
The government has proposed to fill up the post of Minister (Economic and Commercial) in embassy of India, Tokyo at a joint secretary level. The post, under the department of economic affairs, will be for a period of three years. It would fall vacant on November 3, 2013. Only joint secretary equivalent officers are eligible to apply.

Action and Appointments
a) Anil Goswami, a 1978 batch Jammu and Kashmir cadre officer and currently OSD in the ministry of home affairs, will hold additional charge of the post of secretary, department of justice, from June 16, 2013 to June 22, 2013 during the absence on leave of DK Sikri, a 1975 batch Gujarat cadre IAS.
b) The central deputation tenure of Ritvik Ranjanam Pandey, a 1998 batch Karnataka cadre IAS and director in department of economic affairs (DEA), has been extended for the period beyond July 7, 2013 and up to August 23, 2013 for the purpose of drawing his pay and allowances from the department of economic affairs during his participation in the phase IV mid-career training programme for IAS officers of 1996-98 batches. The officer will revert to his parent cadre on completion of the course.
