Harish Chandra, a former DGP of Rajasthan. Dausa will go to poll on April 24.
Till now, both the brothers have maintained restraint and have not publicly criticized each other. But Namo Narain is aware of his brother’s aggression. At the age of 56, Harish Chandra, then the police chief of Rajasthan, publicly displayed his fitness and ran 10 km in just 47 minutes. But he became controversial for his dictate of a compulsory 10-km run in an hour for all new recruits into Rajasthan police force. As many as 70 fainted during the run, and a 23-year-old candidate lost his life in the process.
Harish Chandra was also the director general of Home Guard and Civil Defence in Rajasthan. Earlier, he was IGP of CRPF and superintendent of police in districts of Jalore, Jhalawar, Pali, Barmer and Banswara.
On the other hand, Namo Narain is 70-year-old and a 1969 batch IPS. Between 1999 and 2003, he was additional Director General of Police in Rajasthan. In 2004, he made an electoral debut and won from Sawai Madhopur constituency. He was re-elected in 2009 elections.
