SOUTH Korea’s KDI School has invited applications for master of public policy and master of development policy, the programmes which will begin from September 15, 2014. DoPT’s training division has invited applications from suitable officers who need to…route their applications through their concerned departments. The applications need to reach the DoPT by May 10, 2014.
The master of public policy (MPP) is designed to provide a global perspective and professional expertise in public policy areas where as the master of development policy (MDP) examines various socio-economic issues in both the theoretical and the practical framework and provide capacity building for international professionals, including government officials, development consultants and regional specialists who wish to contribute to development policy-making, DoPT’s letter says.
Earlier too, the government officials from India were nominated for those programmes.
Detailed information about guidelines, application form, university information etc. is available on the KDI website www.kdischool.ac.kr. Applicants must choose their desired fields of study from the listed programmes in the University Information section provided by participating universities.
IAS officers are also sent to KDI as a part of mid-career short training. Till last year, about 800 IAS officers at different levels undertook a familiarization tour of South Korea in the preceding years. As many as 90 IAS officers with 5 to 10 years of service arrived in South Korea on 19 May last year and they had stayed till May 31.
“The purpose of the study tour is to enable them to take a first-hand look at the modalities of the unprecedented socio-economic development in Korea over the last 30 years,” an official statement from Korea then said. At Busan and other parts of South Korea, the Indian officials visited Hyundai Industries, shipyards, leading educational and medical institutions, public transport networks, rural development centres and other establishments.
