Another Administrative Reshuffle: Alok Kumar appointed as secretary in CVC, KP Krishnan shifted out of North Block

FROM appointing 1984 batch IAS Alok Kumar as the secretary in Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) to shifting out finance ministry old-timer and 1983 batch IAS KP Krishnan, the Centre on Monday did yet another round of reshuffle of senior officers. All these officers are just a few batches junior to secretary-ranked officers, meaning they are quite high in bureaucratic hierarchy. The order includes six additional secretary-level appointments too. Here are 11 new appointments:

1. Kewal Kumar Sharma, 1983 batch UT cadre IAS, now in the cadre, has been appointed as additional secretary in ministry of women and child development in place of Indian Postal Service officer AB Joshi.
2. BN Satpathy, 1980 batch Indian Economic Service Officer has been appointed as adviser in Inter State Council secretariat under the ministry of home affairs.
3. KP Krishnan, 1983 batch Karnataka cadre IAS, who has been Director General and additional secretary, Directorate of Currency, has been appointed as additional secretary in the department of land reforms under the rural development ministry.
4. Ajay Tyagi, 1984 batch Himachal cadre IAS and joint secretary in the ministry of environment and forests, has been appointed as additional secretary and Director General in Directorate of Currency in place of KP Krishnan.
5. Anup Chandra Pandey, 1984 batch UP cadre IAS and joint secretary in labour ministry, has been appointed as additional secretary in the department of ex-serviceman welfare under the ministry of defence.
6. Navneet Singh Kang, 1983 batch Punjab cadre IAS, has been appointed as Director General and additional secretary in Central Government Health Scheme.
7. Karan Bir Singh Sidhu, 1984 batch Punjab cadre IAS and joint secretary in the ministry of housing and urban poverty alleviation, has been appointed as Managing Director of TRIFED under the ministry of tribal affairs.
8. R Rajagopal, 1984 batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS and managing director of NAFED, has been appointed as additional secretary in the department of educational research and education under the ministry of agriculture in place of IDAS officer of 1979 batch Arvind Kaushal.
9. Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi, 1984 batch Punjab cadre IAS, has been appointed as adviser in Inter State Council Secretariat under the ministry of home affairs.
10. T Jacob, 1984 batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS, and joint secretary in the department of food and public distribution, has been appointed as DoPT joint secretary.
11. Alok Kumar, DoPT joint secretary and 1984 batch Assam cadre IAS, has been appointed as secretary in Central Vigilance Commission in the rank and pay of a joint secretary by temporarily downgrading the post.
