Know Your Babu: New CITCO MD and 2004 batch IAS Kavita Singh

inter-cadre deputation of 2004 batch Punjab cadre IAS Ms Kavita Singh from Punjab cadre to AGMUT cadre (Chandigarh administration) for appointment as CITCO’s MD for a period of three years.
37-year-old IAS officer, originally hailing from Maharashtra, is expected to be a driving force in making Chandigarh, a city of beautiful, a major tourist hub. CITCO manages prominent Chandigarh hotels such as Hotel Mountview, Hotel Shivalikview and Hotel Parkview. Hotel Mountview, located in the backdrop of Shivalik Hills, is the only five star hotel in the Region North of Delhi.
Ms Singh had earlier served in Roop Nagar and Hoshiarpur (as additional deputy commissioner) and Kapurthala (as deputy commissioner), all in Punjab. In 2011-12, she was the MD of Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC), and then the MD of Punjab Communications Ltd. She also served in the state’s personnel department taking charge of administrative reforms.
Ms Singh did her post-graduation in economics before getting into IAS cadre.

  1. The position of CEO's and MD's should only go to professional MBA's and graduates of commerce degree and not IAS. The job of IAS is to administer or be a bureaucrat for government/public and not companies.

    Anyways, today China (PRC) overtakes the United States as the world's largest economy in the world. This means that the economic richest country in the world now today in China.

    India however remains a 3rd world country with IAS incompetence.

  2. look at this news item..delhi is to be decongested..why not JCP or DCP looking after traffic should be a member of this committee?
    The Ministry of Urban Development has constituted a 17-member High Powered Inter Ministerial Committee to prepare a report on decongestion of Delhi.

    The Committee has been set up further to the direction of the Urban Development Minister Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu to take necessary measures to improve mobility in the national capital. The Minister has taken a serious view of media reports highlighting traffic congestion on the roads of Delhi for various reasons and sought corrective interventions on priority.

    The Committee will take into account all the technical, financial and administrative aspects on ‘How to Decongest Delhi’ and will submit the report along with proposed action plan by the first week of November, 2014.

    The High Powered Inter Ministerial Committee, to be chaired by the Secretary (Urban Development), Government of India, has Chairman, Railway Board, Secretary(Defence), Secretary(Road Transport & Highways), Secretary(Home Affairs) or their representatives as members. The other members of the Committee include:

    1.Chairman, National Highway Authority

    2.Principle Secretary(PWD), Govt. of National Capital Territory of Delhi

    3.Principle Secretary(Transport), Govt. of National Capital Territory of Delhi

    4.Vice-Chairman, Delhi Development Authority

    5.Member Secretary, National Capital Region Planning Board

    6.Police Commissioner, Delhi

    7.Managing Director, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation

    8.Director, UTTIPEC (Unified Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure Policy & Engineering

    Centre)

    9.Chairman, New Delhi Municipal Committee

    10. Municipal Commissioner, South Delhi Municipal Corporation

    11. Municipal Commissioner, North Delhi Municipal Corporation

    12.Municipal Commissioner, East Delhi Municipal Corporation



    Managing Director, Delhi Transport Corporation and Director General, Institute of Urban Transport will be the Special Invitees. Joint Secretary(Urban Transport) and OSD(Urban Transport) will be the Convenors of the High Powered Inter Ministerial Committee on decongestion of Delhi.
