5 IAS, 1 each from IRTS, IRS, IDAS get appointed as joint secretaries; railway officer given role in textiles ministry

ON SATURDAY, the appointments committee of the cabinet headed by prime minister Narendra Modi cleared decks for appointing eight officers as union joint secretaries, the key highlight being five of them are IAS, and one each from the railways, defence accounts and IRS-IT service. An Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer Madhukumar Reddy Anam was appointed as joint secretary in textile ministry, and joint secretaries of the ministries of science and technology and department of electronics were swapped. 1. Dr MM Kutty, 1985 batch UT cadre IAS, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of environment, forests and climate change in place of 1984 batch Himachal Pradesh cadre IAS Ajay Tyagi who was recently elevated as DG in Directorate of Currency under department of economic affairs.
2. Arun Kumar Yadav, 1987 batch IAS, has been appointed as joint secretary in ministry of statistics and programme implementation. In place of SS Badhawan, 1985 batch Jharkhand cadre officer of Indian Forest Service.
3. Chetan Bhushan Sanghi, 1988 batch UT cadre IAS, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of women and child development in place of Vivek Joshi, 1989 batch Haryana cadre IAS who was appointed as OSD, PPD, in department of expenditure.
4. Sunil Barthwal, 1989 batch Bihar cadre IAS, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of steel in place of 1993 batch Maharashtra cadre IAS Lokesh Chandra who was prematurely repatriated to his cadre.
5. Madhukumar Reddy Anam, 1987 batch IRTS officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of textiles in place of Monika Sehgal Garg, 1989 batch UP cadre IAS.
6. Santosh Kumar Sarangi, 1994 batch Odisha cadre IAS and chairman of APEDA, has been appointed as joint secretary in the department of commerce, in place of Rajiv Arora, 1987 batch Haryana cadre IAS, on his lateral shift as joint secretary in NATGRID.
7. Anuradha Mitra, 1984 batch Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) officer and currently joint secretary in department of science and technology, has been appointed joint secretary in department of electronics and information technology in place of JB Mohapatra, 1985 batch IRS-IT officer.
8. JB Mohapatra, 1985 batch IRS-IT officer, currently joint secretary in department of electronics and information technology, has been appointed as joint secretary in department of science and technology.
