Round 2 of extension in CBI: List of 6 officers getting extension, 2 new appointments

IN LESS than a fortnight, the Centre has undertaken the second round of extension of officers in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), India’s premier investigating agency. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by prime minister on Wednesday extended the Central deputation tenure of six CBI officers and made two new appointments -- Amrit Mohan Prasad of Odisha cadre and AK Sharma of Gujarat cadre -- both of whom will now be new joint directors in the CBI. On April 8, as many as six CBI officers were given extension whereas two officers were prematurely repatriated to their respective cadres. Here is the list of six CBI joint directors getting extension:

1. The Central deputation tenure of Keshav Kumar, 1986 batch Gujarat cadre IPS and joint director in CBI, has been extended from April 1, 2015 to January 4, 2016.
2. The Central deputation tenure of Prabodh Kumar, 1988 batch Punjab cadre IPS and joint director in CBI, has been extended from April 1, 2015 to January 11, 2016.
3. The Central deputation tenure of RP Agrawal, 1986 batch Assam cadre IPS and joint director in CBI, has been extended from April 1, 2015 to January 27, 2016.
4. The Central deputation tenure of Sunil Kumar Jha, 1993 batch Bihar cadre IPS and joint director in CBI, has been extended from April 26, 2015 to April 25, 2016.
5. The Central deputation tenure of Su Arunachalam, 1993 batch Tamil Nadu cadre IPS and joint director in CBI, has been extended from April 14, 2015 to June 30, 2015.
6. The Central deputation tenure of Rajeev Sharma, 1990 batch Rajasthan cadre IPS and joint director in CBI, has been extended from April 12, 2015 to June 30, 2015
Meanwhile, Amrit Mohan Prasad, 1989 batch Odisha cadre IPS and AK Sharma, 1987 batch Gujarat cadre IPS have been appointed as joint directors in CBI for an initial period of 5 years.
