IT SOUNDS unbelievable, but the crucial post of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) in Tehri Hydro Development Corporation of India Ltd (THDCIL) has been lying vacant since July 2013. And it is not an aberration. The number of CVO vacancies has risen in the last one year (some of those have been lying vacant for over two years), prompting the government to re-advertise the posts once and again. “Since there has been an increase in vacancies due to the carry forwarded vacancies, it has been decided that the web portal for online submission of applications by the individual officer will be again opened till 30.04.2016 in order to give opportunity to the willing/eligible officers who have not applied earlier, to submit fresh applications”, said an office memorandum dated April 13, 2016.

It is time for GOI to abolish all these vacant posts as most of the posted CVOs have become redundant. The management keeps on wasting public money while these CVOs keep on enjoying perks provided by these organisations. It is time for CBI to burst this loot of public exchequer by collusive corruption of public servants, trade unions and CVOs.
