COACHING centres for civil services examination are ubiquitous, but here is an out-of-the-box idea being planned by IPS officers stationed at Madhya Pradesh’s capital city — Bhopal. an article published in The Times of India. The report further mentioned that merits, not the ranks of their parents, will count while choosing the children for coaching.
According to the report, the officers have already been preparing a list that includes the students who have cleared the class X and XII with 90% marks or more. It’s planned that the coaching will be held at Nehru Nagar police lines. The coaching will be provided free of cost.
The police officers have also planned to rope in some domain experts from professional institutions in addition to turning coach themselves.
The Times of India report said, the idea was originally mooted by Rishi Kumar Shukla, a senior IPS officer who is all set to take over as Madhya Pradesh DGP on June 30, and the young IPS officers are implementing the project. These young officers have cleared the civil services examinations only a few years ago, and they, unlike their seniors, are up-to-date on the UPSC syllabus and the recent pattern of questions.
The young IPS officers who will teach in the coaching initiatives include Mayank Awasthi, Ajay Singh and Deepak Shukla. A 2012 batch IPS, Awasthi is an an engineer-turned IPS. He hails from Lucknow, and had worked with National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) before getting into IPS. Ajay Singh, according to Madhya Pradesh police records, is city superintendent police of Govindpura.
I wonder choosing kids who got over 90% would be a clear discrimination. They should in fact enroll every children of police personnel who is interested towards Civil Service Examination

Located at every nook and corner across the country, some centres can be categorised as " teaching shops ", totally commercial and unprofessional, charging exorbitant fees.
The coaching centres cover all stages of exams-- Prelims, the Mains and Personality tests.
With truncated regular faculties, hiring being cheaper,is resorted to.by the coaching centres.,
Serving teachers of universities and in-service bureaucrats take unauthorised leave from employers to serve as experts on payment of handsome fees.
A Big Scam .
Fudged accounts to evade IT.
No reality checks are ever conducted by authorities concerned.
No regulatory mechanism in place to monitor their functioning.
The vulnerable CS aspirants fall easy prey to the marketing gimmicks by raising their expectations.
Free food is provided by some centres.to attract candidates.
The UPSC ,in its wisdom, vehemently advises AGAINST joining coaching centres by the civil services aspirants.
