THE government of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday sacked the chairman of UP Liquor Prohibition Board after an alleged video clip of him abusing district Panchayati Raj officer Sarvesh Kumar Pandey and using abusive language for Baghpat’s district magistrate Hriday Shankar Tiwari, went viral in social media sites. IAS Association said in a social media site: “It’s sad that the concerned official who 'abused' the DM is a wannabe legislator. Fair that action has been taken”. In fact, the politician who reportedly used abusive language in the video was…
Kuldeep Ujjwal who incidentally is the Samajwadi Party’s Baghpat candidate for the assembly polls next year.
Ujjwal, however, told media that it was a conspiracy against him, claiming that the said audio clip is “doctored”. But the principal secretary (information) Navneet Sehgal informed that Ujjwal was dismissed on the orders of chief minister Akhilesh Singh Yadav.
The clip further shows Ujjwal bragging that he holds “a rank of minister” and he would “teach them a lesson”.
None from the Samajwadi Party to which Ujjwal belongs has openly supported him so far.
According to the sacked Neta, the situation arose after he alleged that the district-level officers were “holding back funds” of village heads. He claimed, as reported in media reports, that he was protesting on behalf of the local people.
The situation has now taken such a twist that the district Panchayat Raj officer wants more security for him and his family, and also a transfer, for security reasons, according to the reports quoting the officer himself.
District magistrate Hriday Shankar Tiwari has not issued any statement as yet. He is a promoted IAS officer and will retire in 2018.
