Time to Reshuffle: List of new additional secretary level officers

THE Central government has appointed 1986 batch IAS officers, currently serving as joint secretaries in various ministries, as additional secretaries. In some cases, the officers have been shifted to other departments whereas in other cases, it’s a promotion in the same department or ministry. Here are the new additional secretary-level appointments:

1. Sanjeev Gupta, 1985 batch Himachal Pradesh cadre lAS, presently in his cadre, has been appointed as additional secretary, in the department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP) in place of Shatrughna Singh, 1983 batch Uttarakhand lAS who is now the state chief secretary.

2. Ms Vandita Sharma, 1986 batch Karnataka cadre lAS, presently in her cadre, has been appointed as Member (Finance), Atomic Energy Space Earth Commission in place of Sudarsanam Srinivasan, 1980 batch Odisha cadre IAS.

3. Anshu Prakash, 1986 batch AGMUT cadre IAS and joint secretary in the department of health and family welfare has been appointed as additional secretary in department of heavy industries. 

4. Utpal Kumar Singh, 1986 batch Uttarakhand cadre lAS and joint secretary in the department of agriculture, has been appointed as additional secretary in the department of agriculture in place of Avinash K Srivastava, 1982 batch UP cadre IAS on his appointment as secretary, ministry of food processing industries.

5. Ms Jayashree Mukharjee, 1986 batch Maharashtra cadre IAS, presently in her cadre, has been appointed as additional secretary in the ministry of information and broadcasting in place of Jitendra Shankar Mathur, 1982 batch Madhya Pradesh cadre lAS who was appointed as secretary in the ministry of Panchayati Raj.

6. Alok Tandon, 1986 batch UP cadre lAS and joint secretary in the cabinet secretariat has been appointed as additional secretary in the cabinet secretariat in place of Jai Priye Prakash, 1982 batch Assam cadre IAS on his appointment as secretary, department of pharmaceutical.

7. Alok Vardhan Chaturvedi, 1986 batch Bihar cadre lAS and joint secretary in the cabinet secretariat has been appointed as additional secretary in the department of commerce in place of Rajani Ranjan Rashmi, 1983 batch Manipur cadre lAS on his appointment as additional secretary in the ministry of environment, forests and climate change.

8. Pramod Kumar Das, 1986 batch Madhya Pradesh cadre lAS and joint secretary in the department of personnel and training (DoPT) has been appointed as additional secretary in the department of expenditure in place of Girish Chandra Murmu, 1985 batch Gujarat cadre IAS who was appointed as additional secretary in the department of financial services.

9. Gajendra Bhujbal, 1981 batch IES officer, presently in his cadre, has been appointed as additional secretary and financial adviser in the department of fertilizers in place of Vinod Kumar Thakral, 1982 batch Manipur cadre lAS who is retiring on July 31, 2016. 

10. Inder Jit Singh, 1985 batch Kerala cadre lAS, presently in his cadre, has been appointed as additional secretary in the ministry of new and renewable energy by shifting a vacant post of director from ministry of power and upgrading that post to the level of additional secretary for a period of two years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

11. Umesh Sinha, 1986 batch UP cadre IAS and deputy Election Commissioner, has been promoted to the additional secretary level.

12. Anil Kumar Khachi, 1986 batch Himachal cadre IAS and chief vigilance officer in Food Corporation of India (FCI), has been appointed as additional secretary in the department of financial services.

13. Bipin Bihari Mallick, 1986 batch Maharashtra cadre IAS and joint secretary in the ministry of labour and employment, has been appointed as additional secretary in the ministry of home affairs in place of Braj Kishore Prasad, 1983 batch Tamil Nadu cadre lAS on his superannuation on July 31, 2016.

14.  Singh Bhullar, 1986 batch UP cadre lAS and joint secretary in the ministry of civil aviation, has been appointed as additional secretary in the ministry of civil aviation by upgrading the post of joint secretary to the level of additional secretary for a period of two years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

15. Guruprasad Mohapatra, 1986 batch Gujarat cadre lAS and joint secretary in the department of

commerce, has been appointed as chairman of Airports Authority of India in place of RK Shrivastava, 1984 batch Jharkhand cadre lAS.

16. SP Singh Parihar, 1986 batch MP cadre IAS and joint secretary in the cabinet secretariat has been appointed as chairman of Central Pollution Control Board in place of Prof SP Gautam, in the rank and pay of additional secretary.

17. Suresh Kumar, 1986 batch Jammu and Kashmir cadre lAS and joint secretary in the ministry of defence, has been appointed as additional secretary in the ministry of defence by upgrading the post of joint secretary to the level of additional secretary for a period of two years or till a vacancy of additional secretary arises in the ministry or until further orders, whichever is the earliest.

18. Ms Veena Ish, 1985 batch Andhra Pradesh cadre lAS, presently in her cadre, has been appointed as Member (Administration), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in place of Narendra Kumar, 1988 batch AGMUR cadre lAS on his premature repatriation to his cadre.

19. Abhay Tripathi, 1986 batch Andhra Pradesh cadre IAS  and senior directing staff (joint secretary level), National Defence College has been promoted to the additional secretary level by upgrading the post to the level of additional secretary for a period of two years or until further orders, whichever earlier.
