AS MANY AS seven Assistant Director General-ranked officers belonging to Indian Information Service (IIS) were on Friday promoted to the HAG pay scale, i.e. the scale of a GoI additional secretaries or DG in IIS hierarchy. HAG pay scale is Rs 67,000—79,000 (level 15 in new pay matrix i.e. Rs 1.82 lakh to Rs 2.24 lakh per month). The seven IIS officers who got promoted were:
1. MVVS Murthy, ADG, PIB, Bengaluru
2. KS Dhatwalia, ADG, PIB, New Delhi
3. K Muthukumar, ADG, PIB, Chennai
4. Ms Sadhana Rout, ADG, Publication Division, New Delhi
5. Ms Ira Joshi, ADG, PIB, New Delhi
6. Ghanshyam Goel, ADG, PIB, New Delhi
7. AK Saxena, ADG, PIB, New Delhi
“On promotion, the above officers will continue on their present posting till further orders. The new posting orders of the above officers will be issued in due course”, said an ministry of information and broadcasting order dated March 17.
Among the promoted officers, Dhatwalia handles the ministry of home affairs and Saxena the ministry of railways.
Indian Information Service (IIS) is a Group “A” service created way back in 1960. The selected cadres join the service first as assistant directors before getting promoted to the ranks of deputy director, director/joint director, assistant director general (ADG), director general (DG) and principal director general (principal DG).
Meanwhile, the government on Friday appointed 1982 batch Maharashtra cadre Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer Dr Suresh Chandra Gairola as the Director General, Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) on a deputation basis for three years. The post is at the scale of a GoI secretary.
