THE government on Wednesday appointed 1983 batch Uttar Pradesh cadre IPS Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar as Director General, Central Reserve Police Force, from the date of joining the post. New CRPF DG Bhatnagar is currently serving as director general in Narcotics Control Bureau. His predecessor Prasad was instrumental in setting up Andhra Pradesh's anti-Naxal force named Greyhounds.
The government on Wednesday also announced that Bhatnagar’s batch-mate in IPS RK Pachnanda will assume charge as director general of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on June 30 when the incumbent and 1979 batch Bihar cadre IPS Krishna Choudhary will retire as DG, ITBP. Pachnanda belongs to West Bengal cadre and is currently serving as director general of National Disaster Response Force. He will hold the new post in ITBP till October 31, 2018.
Meanwhile, 1996 batch Andhra Pradesh cadre IPS officer Shankhabrata Bagchi, currently serving as joint director in CBI, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre on the request of state government of Andhra Pradesh, under the provision of para 14.2 of IPS Tenure Policy, 2010, the government said in an order.
In a separate appointment order, the Central government accorded approval to the proposal for inter cadre deputation of 2005 batch Maharashtra cadre IAS Dheeraj Kumar from Maharashtra cadre to Uttar Pradesh cadre for a period of three years on personal grounds.
