Srinivas Ramaswamy Katikithala, 1989 batch Gujarat cadre IAS, has been appointed as joint secretary in the department of personnel and training (DoPT). An LLM in constitutional law, Katikithala was a principal secretary-ranked officer in Gujarat government before the appointments committee of the cabinet approved his new assignment in DoPT, Delhi. 1. Katikithala is a 1989 batch Gujarat cadre IAS serving as principal secretary in the government of Gujarat before getting appointed as GOI joint secretary.
2. This 50-year-old IAS officer originally belongs to Andhra Pradesh.
3. He began his career as an assistant collector in Porbandar before getting shifted to Rajkot.
4. Later, he served as collector in Sabarkantha (1995-97) and then in Rajkot district (1997-98).
5. In 2001-02, he was collector of Ahmedabad.
6. Katikithala served as managing director in Gujarat Urban Development Co Ltd between 2004-2009— the period he came into prominence in the state for his innovative urban development initiatives.
7. An LLB from Gulbarga University, he later completed LLM from Acharya Nagarjuna university with a specialization in constitutional law.
8. In 2011, he took sabbatical from the government to compete a masters degree from the international development policy from Duke University Durham, North Carolina.
9. Among the short in-service courses, he did two on World Trade Organization —one a foundation course, the other an advanced one.
10. He has command over four languages — English, Gujarati, Hindi and his mother tongue Telugu.
