Anurag Tripathy, 1998 batch Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) officer, has been appointed as secretary, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), a non-CSS post. The new appointment has come at a time when the CBSE is in the news, as there has been an uncertainly over the announcement of class 12 CBSE results over its moderation policy. The board may now challenge a Delhi high court order allowing continuation of its moderation policy on extra marks which was scrapped last month. Under the moderation policy, grace marks are given to students in examination for difficult questions.
The Delhi high court on Tuesday ordered the continuation of the moderation policy, arguing that doing away of the extra marks under the moderation policy this year was unfair to students who had registered for the examination when the policy was very much in place.
Meanwhile, Tripathy’s batch-mate in IRPS — Rajiv Gandhi — has been appointed as commissioner (personnel) in Delhi Development Authority (DDA), a Central government agency that comes under the union ministry of urban development. Gandhi, currently an OSD to Member (Staff) in Railway Board, is posted at the rank of a GoI director. He did his schooling from Chandigarh and completed MBA from Gurgaon-based Management Development Institute before getting selected as IRPS.
