THE Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Wednesday approved in-situ up-gradation of five IAS officers, all belonging to 1984 batch, to the level of special secretary by temporarily upgrading the posts held by them. Special secretaries are at a notch below union secretaries but their salary and perks are the same with that of secretaries. The officers who will now be special secretaries are the following:
1. Ms Reena Ray, a 1984 batch AGMUT cadre IAS, currently working as an additional secretary in the ministry of human resources development.
2. Ms Malini Shankar, a 1984 batch Maharashtra cadre lAS, currently working as director general in the ministry of shipping.
3. Alok Srivastava, a 1984 batch Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS, currently working as additional secretary in the ministry of shipping.
4. Rajiv Kumar, 1984 batch Jharkhand cadre IAS, currently working as establishment officer and additional secretary in the department of personnel and training (DoPT).
5. ABP Pandey, 1984 batch Maharashtra cadre IAS currently working as CEO in Unique Identification Authority of India.
As BoI had reported earlier, the ACC on on the same day, i.e. Wednesday also appointed and shifted as many as 17 secretary level officers. It also announced the appointment of Rajiv Gauba, a 1982 batch Jharkhand cadre IAS, as the home secretary with effect from August 30 this year when incumbent Rajiv Mehrishi retires.
