The department of personnel and training (DoPT), which is the cadre controlling authority for IAS, wrote a letter to the chief secretary of Karnataka on Friday, asking the state government to send a copy of the order of relieving Shrivastava for taking up the assignment in Maldives.
Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Shrivastava is 46 years old. A civil engineer from IIT-Delhi before getting into IAS, Shrivastava also completed MA in economics from Karnataka State Open University, Mysore and M.Sc in finance too from the University of London.
In the state, he served as deputy commissioner in Dakshin Kannada and Bellary districts, and was the managing director in Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation, the company that conceptualized Bangalore City Cluster Development (BCCD) on the lines of Asian Development Bank's city cluster development guidelines. Shrivastava also worked as secretary in the state departments of urban development, finance, and budget and resources.
In 2015, he was awarded Gurukul fellowship for leadership and excellence at King's College, London, under Chevening Fellowship Award. Earlier in 2013, he received the emerging leaders fellowship in Australia India Institute, Melbourne University.
Last year, Shrivastava also authored a book — “Political Economy of Local Regulation, Water Supply in the State of Karnataka, India”.
