Mohammad Mustafa, 1995 batch Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS and joint secretary in the department of financial services, has been appointed as chairman and managing director (CMD) of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) on deputation basis for three years. This 49-year-old officer originally belongs to Uttar Pradesh and was allotted UP cadre after getting into IAS. National Rural Health Mission, Uttar Pradesh. He had also served in the UP towns of Rampur, Fatehpur and Noida at various capacities. He did his post-graduation in philosophy before getting into IAS.
Set up in 1990, SIDBI facilitates credit flow to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and addresses both financial and developmental gaps in the MSME eco-system. According to SIDBI’s official website, the MSME sector has about 5.1 crore units, creating employment of about 11.7 crore, manufacturing more than 6,000 products, contributing about 45% to manufacturing output and about 40% of exports in terms of value — which about 37% of GDP.
In another important appointment, Indian Railways Service of Engineers (IRSE) officer Manas Sarkar has been appointed as director (project and planning), Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation on deputation basis for five years. The proposal was put forward by the ministry of railways which was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
Meanwhile, the government has accorded its approval of inter-cadre deputation of 2006 batch Gujarat cadre IAS Alok Kumar Pandey from Gujarat to Uttar Pradesh cadre for a period of three years on personal grounds.
