THE DoPT on Wednesday issued an office memorandum on the government’s new online application Sexual Harassment Electronic Box or SHe-Box, asking the ministries, departments, Central Public Sector Enterprises et al to make their officers and staff aware of the new tool. Here are the 10 things to know about the online tool to register sexual harassment cases:
1. SHe-Box is an online complain management system for lodging complaints related to sexual harassment of women at workplace.
2. Any woman working or visiting a Central government (Central ministries, departments, PSUs, autonomous bodies, institutions) can file complains related to sexual harassment through workplace through SHe-Box.
3. SHe-Box means Sexual Harassment Electronic Box.
4. The application was launched in July this year at the initiative of the ministry of women and child development.
5. SHe-Box is designed in a way that it will redirect a complaint to the internal complaints committee of the department of the ministry concerned.
6. The committee will then take action as prescribed under Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, and update the status of the complaint through administrator log in.
7. The status of the complaint can be viewed anytime by pressing the tab— "View Status of Your Complaint” within the SHe-Box.
8. The Committee will however call the complainant to provide detailed complaints along with all relevant evidences.
9. DoPT in an office memorandum dated November 1 asked all ministries, departments, PSUs etc. to circulate the contents of the SHe-Box among their officers and staff.
10. Detailed features can be viewed in www dot shebox dot com
