THE government on Tuesday issued an order appointing 10 officers as joint secretaries or joint secretary-equivalent out of whom five belong to IAS and the rest being non-IAS (one from Indian Ordnance Factories Service and four belonging to various railway services). The key appointments include lateral shifting of Amardeep Singh Bhatia, 1993 batch Nagaland cadre IAS, as Director (JS level) of Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) and appointing Ashish Upadhyay, 1989 batch Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS, as joint secretary in the ministry of coal. Here below are the 10 orders of new JS appointments:
1. Amit Mehta, 1987 batch Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS) officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the department of consumer affairs in place of Venkata Rama Sastry Pidaparthi, 1989 batch UP cadre IPS.
2. Kailash K Aggarwal, 1987 batch Indian Railways Service of Engineers (Civil) officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of shipping in place of Pravir Krishna, 1987 batch Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS.
3. Ashish Upadhyay, 1989 batch Madhya Pradesh cadre IAS, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of coal in place of Vivek Bhardwaj, 1990 batch West Bengal cadre IAS.
4. Sanjay Upreti, 1990 batch Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS) officer, has been appointed as financial advisor (JS level) in the Border Security Force (BSF) in place of V Venugopal, 1984 batch Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) officer.
5. Mukhmeet Singh Bhatia, 1990 batch Jharkhand cadre IAS, has been appointed as joint secretary in the 15th Finance Commission under the department of economic affairs (DEA).
6. Nikunja K Sundaray, 1987 batch Odisha cadre IAS and joint secretary in the ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of environment, forest and climate change, on lateral shift basis in place of Anil Sant, 1988 batch UP cadre IAS.
7. Ms Sumita Misra, 1990 batch Haryana cadre IAS, has been appointed as joint secretary in the PM's Economic Advisory Council under the NITI Aayog.
8. Gopal Krishan Gupta, 1987 batch Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineering (IRSME) officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of new and renewable energy in place of JN Swain, 1988 batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS.
9. Sudhir Garg, 1986 batch Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE) officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises in place of Nikunja K Sundaray, 1987 batch Odisha cadre IAS.
10. Amardeep Singh Bhatia, 1993 batch Nagaland cadre IAS and joint secretary in the ministry of corporate affairs, has been appointed as Director (JS level) of Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the ministry of corporate affairs, on lateral shift basis.
