THE union cabinet on Wednesday approved the conferment of Central Group 'A' Service and Cadre Review of Group 'A' executive officers of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), a paramilitary force set up way back in 1963, with the net creation of 19 posts of various ranks from assistant commandant to inspector general ranks to enhance the operational and administrative capabilities of the force. Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders, and its officers are deployed in Naxal-affected areas, and in counter insurgency operations duties in Jammu and Kashmir and Assam.
With the recent move, there will be an increase of existing structure of Group ‘A’ posts of SSB from 1253 to 1272, as mentioned below:
1. Increase of 2 posts of Inspector General (SAG level)
2. Net increase of 11 posts of DIG/Commandant (JAG level)
3. Increase of 2 posts of DC (STS level)
4. Increase of 4 posts of AC (JTS level)
Meanwhile, in another development, the Central deputation tenure of Ms Nivedita, 2002 batch Indian Ordnance Factory Service officer currently posted as director in the ministry of tribal affairs, has been extended from January 29, 2018 to October 28, 2018. Also, Dr Kamlesh Kumar Singh, Scientist “F”, has been promoted in-situ to Scientist “G”. Another scientist with the rank of Scientist “G” — PS Acharya, now posted in the department of science and technology, has been appointed as chief executive officer (CEO) of National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).
