Action and Appointments: 1 IRS, 1 IAS repatriated; Karnataka cadre IAS Sameer Shukla appointed PS to minister of steel

IN THE last couple of days, the government issued an order of appointing a 2005 batch Karnataka cadre IAS as the PS to minister of steel, apart from prematurely repatriating a 2001 batch IRS (Customs and Central Excise) currently serving in the department of investment and public asset management. Also, Manipur-Tripura cadre IAS U Venkateswarlu has been repatriated to his parent cadre. Here are the details of some of the key appointments and promotions in the last two days:

1. Sameer Shukla, 2005 batch Karnataka cadre IAS, has been appointed as the private secretary to the minister for steel Chaudhary Birender Singh at the level of a deputy secretary. 

2. Suresh Pentakota, 2000 batch Indian Railway Accounts Service officer, has been appointed as director in the department of investment and public asset management, Delhi, for five years.

3. Harish Kumar Vashisht, 2001 batch Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise) officer, who was serving in the department of investment and public asset management, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre. 

4. K Santoshi, 1992 batch Indian Statistical Service officer and deputy director general in the ministry of labour and employment, has been given additional charge of the post of CVO in Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Delhi. 

5. U Venkateswarlu, 1986 batch Manipur-Tripura cadre Indian Administrative Service officer and joint secretary in the department of social justice and employment, has been prematurely repatriated to his cadre, so that he can avail of his promotion in the cadre. 

6. Jai Priye Prakash, 1982 batch Assam cadre IAS and secretary in the department of pharmaceuticals, has been given additional charge of the post of secretary, department of chemicals and petrochemicals. 

7. Also, the appointments committee of the cabinet (ACC) has approved the promotion of two General Manager-ranked executive in public sector banks. First, Debashish Mukherjee, GM in United Bank of India, has been promoted as the Executive Director in Canara Bank. Secondly, Murali Ramaswami, GM in Vijaya Bank, has been appointed as Executive Director in the same bank.
