HOME COMING: Gujarat cadre IAS Lalnunmawia Chuaungo gets inter-cadre deputation to Mizoram till retirement


THE government has allowed Lalnunmawia Chuaungo, 1987 batch Gujarat cadre IAS, for an inter-cadre deputation from Gujarat to the Mizoram segment of the AGMUT cadre till February 28, 2022, the date he retires. 56 years old  Chuaungo is a Mizo, and has been serving in Gujarat for three decades. Since July last year, this Mizo IAS officer has been serving as the principal resident commissioner in New Delhi's Gujarat Bhawan. Earlier, he headed the state’s general administrative department. In Gujarat, he handled the education and labour department and was Valsad district’s collector and district magistrate, back in 2002-2003.
Chuaungo was also the Managing Director of Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), Member of Gujarat Electricity Board, and between 2014 and 2016, Chairman and Managing Director of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd, at the rank of an additional secretary. The officer attended a two-week-long course on leadership in USA in 2007.
In an unrelated development, 2006 batch Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise) officer Pandurang Kondiram Raut has been appointed as Deputy Director General (Legal and Finance) in DG, Shipping, Mumbai, under the ministry of shipping. He will be ranked at the level of a GoI deputy secretary.
