A video grab of Kant practising kickboxing |
AMITABH Kant, 1980 batch former Kerala cadre IAS and CEO of the government think-tank, NITI Aayog, made a social media buzz on Tuesday morning when he uploaded in Twitter a 34-second-video, showing him practicing kickboxing in a garden, understandably in Delhi. Wearing navy blue shorts, T-shirt and sneaker, the 62-year-old bureaucrat is seen doing “cross-fit training and kickboxing” as a reply to a fitness challenge posed by actor…
Sushant Singh Rajput. This is a part of the ongoing fitness campaign named “HumFitToIndiaFit”, begun last week by information and broadcasting minister and former Olympic silver medalist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.
Kant congratulated minister Rathore for “moving towards a fit India”. According to the format, the one who posts the fitness video challenges two of his friends or colleagues to carry forward the fitness regime. Kant on his part now challenges two bureaucrats — chief economic adviser of the ministry of finance Arvind Subramanian and secretary in the ministry of drinking water and sanitation Param Iyer. Now, Subramanian and Iyer need to take the challenge and post videos about their fitness regime.
Kant, who is fondly called by his friends and colleagues as a “rockstar civil servant”, is the man behind of some of India's successful government campaigns including God’s Own Country, Atithi Devo Bhava — both related to tourism — and Make In India, a campaign launched in 2014 to boost manufacturing in India.
Kant was appointed as the NITI Aayog CEO in February 2016, initially for a period of two years, after his retirement as the union industry secretary. He then got an extension till June 2019.
