1 IAS, 1 IDSE officer prematurely repatriated; 1994 batch IFS Rudrendra Tandon is India’s ambassador to ASEAN

Ms Sigy Thomas Vaidhyan, 2002 batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer and director of NITI Aayog, has been prematurely repatriated to her parent cadre on personal ground. Ms Vaidyan is a director in the NITI Aayog. In the DoPT’s list of new orders dated June 4, she is however shown as an officer belonging to the Planning Commission (kindly see the photo) though in the actual order, she is mentioned as…
a director in NITI Aayog. The Planning Commission is the earlier avatar of the NITI Aayog, a government policy think-tank. The Planning Commission ceased to exist in 2015.
The order on Ms Vaidhyan added that she will be eligible for another central deputation only after June 9, 2022, i.e. three years calling off after June 9, 2019 — her approved Central deputation tenure.
In another premature repatriation news, Sushil Purohit, 1984 batch Indian Defence Service of Engineers officer and director in National Capital Region Planning Board, has been repatriated to his parent cadre.
Further, Mahesh Kumar Jain, MD and CEO of IDBI Bank, was on Monday appointed as Deputy Governor in Reserve Bank of India, for a period of three years.
In the ministry of external affairs (MEA), Ms Madhu Sethi, a 2004 Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer and the present counsellor in the Indian high commission in London, has been appointed as the next ambassador to Cuba. According to an MEA statement, the officer is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
Also, 1994 batch IFS officer Rudrendra Tandon, presently joint secretary in MEA, has been appointed as next Ambassador of India to ASEAN.
