LATE last week, the union government appointed five director/deputy secretary-ranked officers in various ministries. All happened to be non-IAS. Whereas an IRS-IT officer was chosen as the director of National Gallery of Modern Art, an Indian Trade Service officer found a berth in the department of justice. Also, the ministry of coal will now have an Indian Ordnance Factory Service officer as deputy secretary. Here below are the details of five officers:
1. Ms Ritu Sharma, 2005 batch IRS-IT officer, has been appointed as Director (deputy secretary level) in the National Gallery of Modern Art under the ministry of culture.
2. Ms Banumathi G, 2009 batch Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer, has been appointed as deputy secretary in the department of bio-technology, Delhi, for four years.
3. Pankaj Gupta, 1998 batch Indian Cost Accounts Service officer, has been appointed as director in the department of investment and public asset management.
4. Shailesh Shrivastava, 1992 batch Indian Trade Service officer, has been appointed as director in the department of justice.
5. PS Lingeswara Swami, 2006 batch Indian Ordnance Factory Service officer, has been appointed as deputy secretary in the ministry of coal.
