two vacancies of “Member” in the Competition Commission of India -- the government’s anti-monopoly watchdog responsible for enforcing the Competition Act, 2002.
According to the vacancy circular, applications are asked from eligible officers in the central government or state governments, who are interested and can be spared in the event of selection may be forwarded duly verified/countersigned by the head of departments.
The applicants, who are already in any employment including government service, in case of their selection, will have to, however, resign or seek retirement from the service before joining the post in CCI. As per the Competition Act, 2002 “a person of ability, integrity and standing and who has special knowledge of, and such professional experience of not less than fifteen years in, international trade, economics, business, commerce, law finance, accountancy, management, industry, public affairs or competition matters, including competition law and policy, which in the opinion of the Central Government, may be useful to the Commission is eligible for appointment as Member of the Competition Commission of India”.
The last date of application is August 2, 2018 (by 5.30 pm). And the tenure of the post will be five years or till the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
Members of CCI are usually drawn from senior government officers who have just retired or are retiring soon.
