Ajay Kumar, 1985 batch Kerala cadre IAS and presently the union secretary of defence production, has been given an additional charge of the post of defence secretary for the period between August 29 and September 13 when the incumbent defence secretary, Sanjay Mitra is on leave. Mitra is a 1982 batch West Bengal cadre IAS. Meanwhile, in an unrelated development, the government has repeatedly extended the last date of application for the post of financial adviser in the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), a quasi-judicial body that comes under the ministry of corporate affairs. The reasons for this acton are...
however not known as yet.
The NCLT was constituted in June 2016 under the Companies Act, 2013, mainly to adjudicate issues relating to Indian companies. The post of NCLT’s financial adviser, a non-CSS post, was first advertised in February this year. And the last date of application was March 6, 2018.
But the government decided to extend the last date, initially to August 24, 2018, and then to October 5. The reasons behind the repeated extension of the last date of application were not mentioned in the DoPT’s office memorandum issued this Tuesday.
Also, the government has been looking for suitable candidates for the post of director (auctions) in Bengaluru-based Tobacco Board. The officers at the rank of deputy secretary and director of the government of India are eligible to apply. The period of deputation for the post under the ministry of commerce and industry is 4 to 5 years, a DoPT letter issued on Tuesday to union secretaries and state chief secretaries, said.
