Ansuman Das relinquishes his temporary position as PSEB chief

Ansuman Das relinquished the post of member and additional charge of post of chairman of Public Enterprises Selection Board (PSEB), with effect from August 18, but the notification towards the decision was issued only last week. Das, a former chairman and managing director of aluminium major, NALCO, was appointed as a member of the PSEB, a panel that recommends senior level PSU appointments, in August 2015. Das is a...
mechanical engineer from regional engineering college (now NIT), Rourkela. Later, he did a post-graduation on aeronautical production from IIT-Chennai. Das began his career first as a management trainee in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and then moved to NALCO.
Meanwhile, the tenure of M. Saravanan, a 2002 batch Bihar cadre IAS officer and private secretary to MoS in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Jitendra Singh, was curtailed last week. The curtailment was done to facilitate Saravanan’s appointment as a director in the department of commerce under the central staffing scheme. The officer “may be relieved of the duties to join as Director in the Department of Commerce under the Central Staffing Scheme for the remaining period of his 5 year tenure”, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet’s approval as mentioned in an office memorandum dated August 31 said. Saravanan’s central deputation began on July 22, 2014.
In a related development, the tenure of 2005 batch IAS Ashish Kumar and Officer-On-Special Duty to MoS for atomic energy, also held by Jitendra Singh, has been curtailed so that he can take over as the minister’s PS in the department of personnel and training (DoPT). He will be ranked as a union deputy secretary, and his posting will be co-terminus with that of the minister.
