IRS-IT officer Vikram Pagaria assaulted during IT raid in Madhya Pradesh; condemnations pour in


IN A shocking incident, Indian Revenue Service—Income Tax (IRS-IT) officer, Vikram Pagaria, was assaulted during a tax raid of an edible oil firm in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena on Wednesday. save the seized materials including documents, jewellery worth about Rs 50 lakh, according to media reports. Rs 3 lakh in cash was also seized from the spot.
Pagaria is the deputy commission, Income-Tax, and is now posted in Gwalior. 
Various civil services associations have condemned the incident. The Gujarat chapter of the IRS association termed the incident “extremely shocking”, “unfortunate” and “ghastly”. “Vikram Pagaria IRS, DCIT Gwalior has been man-handled and beaten up badly by the goon assesses”, it said, appealing all civil servants to unite in solidarity and condemn it. 
IAS Association, while condemning the incident, said that the assault on officers on duty is “not acceptable”, demanding immediate arrest and strong actions against the perpetrators.
Pagariya originally hails from Rajasthan. A B.Tech in biological sciences and bioengineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Kanpur, he also did his masters in business laws and taxation before getting into IRS through civil services examinations. 
Pagariya is considered an upright and hardworking officer.
