Financial services secretary Rajiv Kumar is on leave; 2 North Block secretaries given additional charge


THE union finance ministry will see some adhoc arrangements when the secretary of the department of financial services, Rajiv Kumar, is on leave for 18 days, according to a DoPT order issued on Thursday. The additional charge of the post of secretary, department of financial services, has been bestowed on Subhash Chandra Garg, 1983 batch Rajasthan cadre lAS, for a period between November 29 and December 16 when incumbent secretary and 1984 batch Jharkhand cadre IAS Rajiv Kumar, is on leave. secretary of the department of expenditure, Ajay Narayan Jha (a 1982 batch Manipur cadre IAS), will look after the department of financial services, the same order explained. 
In an unrelated development, Anurag Sehgal, a 2007 batch Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise) officer, has been appointed as deputy secretary in the department of commerce. 
Meanwhile, Sarbeswar Majhi, 2009 batch Indian Statistical Service officer, has been appointed as the deputy secretary in the ministry of statistics and programme implementation. He will be based out of New Delhi. 
Earlier this week, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) extended the central deputation tenure of Brijesh Pandey, 2004 batch Manipur-Tripura cadre IAS and director in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), for a period of one year beyond January 14, 2019. He has been on the central deputation since January 15, 2014. Also, Manish Kumar Garg, 1994 batch Indian Telecom Service officer, has been appointed as director in the National Intelligence Grid under the ministry of home affairs. 
In another appointment-related news, Rajesh Kanungo, 1992 batch Indian Telecom Service officer, has been appointed as director in Central Vigilance Commission, New Delhi, under the Central Staffing Scheme, for a period of five years.
