Govt may organise national level police parades near Sardar Patel statue every year

PRIME Minister Narendra Modi this weekend suggested that a national level parade could be organised by police forces of about three to four states near the Statue of Unity every year on October 31, the birthday of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, former union home minister who had played a stellar role for unification of India post-Independence. This day is also observed as National Unity Day. “This need not be a traditional parade but may be a…
demonstration of police capabilities”, PM suggested, as he addressed the Director Generals of Police at Kevadiya in Narmada district of Gujarat, under the shadow of the Statue of Unity.
Modi also announced the institution of a new national honour for national unity on the pattern of Padma Awards. This will be awarded once in a year. This Award would be open to every Indian who has contributed to national unity in any manner, a press statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.
Meanwhile, a website of the cyber coordination centre was also launched during the occasion. This would be a one stop shop on all cyber related issues, whether it is cyber crime or cyber security. It would also act as bridge between law enforcement agencies on the one hand, and academia and private cyber security professionals on the other, said the same statement.
While addressing the top cops of the country, PM also highlighted how the social media is being misused by anti-national forces for creating mass unrest and for radicalising vulnerable youth.

  1. Instead of parading police it will be apt if a Cyber Security academy is established in the name of SVP where interested policemen could be given intense advance training in detection and prevention of cyber crimes.
