Eight out of 14 officers appointed as GoI joint secretary on Sunday are women officers; Full List

THE Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Sunday approved the appointment of 14 officers at the rank of GoI joint secretary or joint secretary-equivalent. Out of those officers, only five are IAS officers. Another highlight of the Sunday's appointments is, eight out of 14 newly-appointed JS happen to be women officers. Full list is here below:

1. Ms. Geeta Narayan, a CSS officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the department of health research, upto her superannuation on April 30, 2023;

2. Ms Rupali Banerjee, a CSS officer, has been appointed as Member Secretary, NCPCR under ministry of women and child development;

3. Sagar Chand Mehra, a CSS officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the department of fisheries, against a newly-created post;

4. Ms Rubina Ali, a CSS officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of civil aviation for five years;

5. Ms TCA Kalyani, a 1991 batch Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS) officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of information and broadcasting in place of Manoj Pingua, 1994 batch Chhattisgarh cadre lAS;

6. Sanjay Pandey, 1994 batch Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS) officer, has been appointed joint secretary and financial adviser under the ministry of social justice and empowerment;

7. Ms P Amudha, 1994 batch Tamil Nadu cadre lAS, has been appointed as Professor (Public Administration), in Mussoorie-based IAS Academy, LBSNAA, under the department of personnel and training (DoPT);

8. Shantanu, 1997 batch Tripura cadre lAS, has been appointed as joint secretary in the department of defence production;

9. Umakant, 1996 batch Indian Forest Service (IFoS) officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the department of land resources; 

10. Ajay Goyal, 1990 batch Indian Revenue Service officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the department of legal affairs;

11. Ms R Jaya, 1995 batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS, has been appointed as joint secretary in the department of personnel and training (DoPT);

12. Jogiranjan Panigrahi, 1990 batch IRS (Customs and Central Excise) officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in the ministry of textiles; 

13. Ms Sandhya Venugopal Sharma, 1995 Tamil Nadu cadre lAS, has been appointed as joint secretary in the department of space in place of S Kumaraswamy, 1991 batch AGMUT cadre lAS, consequent to his premature repatriation with effect from April 1, 2019.

14. Ms Vijaylakshmi P. Bidari, 2001 batch Maharashtra cadre lAS, has been appointed as Controller, URSC, Department of Space in place of Ms Sandhya Venugopal Sharma, 1995 batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS.
